Tempo Run - 6 miles

Wow. Today's run was so good, I barely know where to begin. Mentally, I kept thinking about Sunday's half marathon, and how there really was no excuse to not run to the best of my ability while training. In fact, running my best is more important during training, since that's what will get me there comfortably in races.

With that in mind, I set out to stay on task and not give up, as I've done so many times recently. The weather was great, the traffic was cooperative, but most importantly, I had a run to finish. It was a tempo run, with a 1-mile warmup, 4 tempo miles in the middle, and a 1-mile cooldown.

For the first time in I don't know how long, I finished 6 miles in under an hour.

Type:Run - Tempo
Duration:1:01:11
Distance:6.20 mi

Notice anything in peculiar? I certainly did while running it: the miles between 2 and 5 were tempo miles, and I stayed on pace for the first time since starting this training cycle!

Splits
Mile 1: 9:18
Mile 2: 8:47
Mile 3: 9:07
Mile 4: 9:13
Mile 5: 9:35
Mile 6: 10:33

6 miles, 56:37, 9:52/mi average, 656 calories burned

I'm getting back to where I was last year, and it's an exciting time. Now the goal is to improve without injuring myself yet again.
