I wanted to post yesterday's workout report last night, really I did. I sat here making a valiant attempt, and almost fell asleep at the keyboard.
So I'll make up for it today, but at the moment, I'm sitting here musing about how there are only 4 days left until the marathon. There are actually less than 4 days, since today is almost over. I don't have any runs until Saturday, which is really just a quick, slow, 2-mile jog.
I must confess, I have more than a little bit of taper madness. My main obsession is with food. I'm supposed to eat more carbohydrates, and I am, but I'm having a really hard time finding balance with it. I'm probably going to gain weight, and there's really not a whole lot I can do about it. This after losing 12 pounds since focusing on my diet again! Today, for example, they bought tacos at work. Not Taco Bell, but a local Mexican fast food place called Adalberto's, which has really good food. I had two of the tacos with the thought that I'd get in my extra carbohydrates.
After eating my lunch, I went to log my food only to realize each taco was about 360 calories. So between the tacos, salad, and apple, I had an 800-calorie lunch. Whoops!
I'm almost assuredly going to be at least a few pounds back up before Sunday, most likely 5.
But the runs? The runs I've had lately have been very, very good. I wish I could say my performance in them is indicative of how CIM will go on Sunday, but I really have no idea. 3 or 4 miles is a whole lot different than 26.2.
Tuesday
Splits
Mile 1: 8:22
Mile 2: 8:33
Mile 3: 8:39
3 miles, 25:31, 8:31/mi average, 334 calories burned
Today
Splits
Mile 1: 8:37
Mile 2: 9:04
Mile 3: 9:06
Mile 4: 9:15
4 miles, 36:02, 9:00/mi average, 428 calories burned
The next to days are rest days. Saturday's active rest, when I'll do a 2-mile light jog. Next to my nervousness, I'm beginning to get excited about the marathon. The expo is Friday & Saturday, and I plan to meet a few people from Twitter there. No solid plans have been made yet, but it's going to be a blast.
I can't wait!
