Can you believe my last blog post was about Tuesday's intervals? My apologies for missing the other days, but busyness at work combined with New Years, and it was just crazy. CRAZY, I say!
I won't bore you too much with the extras. No, I didn't miss the gym on Wednesday, I went, and had a great workout. Thursday would have been a tempo run, except for the planned 3rd annual Feather Falls hike, and this time I brought Gregory.
Check it out, the kid's 6 years old, about three weeks shy of 7. Feather Falls isn't the most difficult hike in the world, but it does tax adults. It was the first hike I did, and it just about killed me at the time. Granted I was overweight and out of shape, and that first hike will forever taint my view of the difficulty, but I'm extremely proud of that kid.
We made it to the falls in about two hours, and he talked about just about everything. When we were almost there, he told me that a lot of kids ask if we're almost there, or if we're there, but he didn't ask once, hehe. He then started making fun of kids in his class, who on field trips say things like, "Why does it take so long to get there!" He seemed to have his imitation down pat, too.
On the way back, it was a long haul. He started complaining about his legs hurting within the first quarter mile of heading back. My job was mostly as coach, getting him back to the trailhead before dark.
Today I asked him if he wanted to go back tomorrow. He said, "Mmm, maybe." That's my boy. :)
Anyway, I took some quick & dirty video from my phone, I'll post it later. Meanwhile, it was a gym workout today.
Warmup, w/45lb bar, 3 circuits
* Overhead Squat
* Squat
* Good Morning
* Barbell Lunge
* Romanian Deadlift
* Bent-over Row
Workout
* Jump Squat, 3x6x45lbs
* Good Morning, 3x6x95lbs
* Lying DB Triceps Extension, 3x6x40lbs (2 20lb dumbbells)
* Barbell Roll-Out, 3x6
I also seem to have lost my HRM strap sometime after arriving home last night from the hike. I took it off while driving and put it on the passenger side, and didn't bring it in last night with the thought that it'd still be there. It wasn't! I'm hoping it's still sitting there on the ground next to where I park, otherwise I'll have to buy a new one.
I'm scheduled for a long run tomorrow, but I'm running 5k with a group of people from church. That means I'll be doing the long run on Sunday, which isn't all that bad, I just have to make sure and be back in time for service at 11am.
I hope you all had a great New Years, and here's to a great 2009!
