Yesterday's Run, Today's Circuit Training & 5-Miler

Yesterday I ran 6 miles in the middle of the day. When I started, it was 88 degrees, and when I finished, it was 93. Talk about tough! Anyway, I burned 697 calories, so there's really not much room to complain. :)

I did have a minor epiphany during the run. I've been getting onto myself for my pace lately, having to walk, that sort of thing. Then I realized, up until a few weeks ago, I was training for a marathon. I was worried about pace, my training runs were very specific. But now?

Now I'm focusing on weight loss, speficically fat loss. Pace? Pace isn't really a factor. I need to not worry about pace so much and focus on losing the extra weight. The speed will come with fitness, which I apparently have almost completely lost. Seriously, I feel like I'm starting back at square one with running once again. By changing my focus, I can at least enjoy myself and not be worried with every run.

Then today was circuit training.

Circuit 1
Scorpion Push-ups 20 reps
Dumbbell Flys on Body Ball w/Crunches 10 reps
Leg Extensions (pyramid up with weight) 20, 12, 6-8
Jump Squats Reps to failure

Circuit 2
Decline Dumbbell Presses 10 reps per arm (20 total)
V Cable Flys 15 reps
Squat Thrusts 20 reps
Side Lunges 20 reps alternating (10 ea)

Circuit 3
Close-Grip Pushups AMRAP to failure
Plank-ups AMRAP to failure
Jump Squats AMRAP to failure
One-Leg Squats 10 reps per leg (20 total)
Jumping Jacks 1 min

Circuit 4
Military Shoulder Press 8 reps
Wood Choppers 15 reps on each side of body
Knee Tuck Jumps 10 reps
Static Lunges w/Lateral Shoulder Raise 10 reps on each leg
Reverse Crunches 10 reps
Hanging Abs with a Twist 10 reps on each side (20 total)

Circuit 5
30-second sprints (5 over 5 mins) 30 secs on, 30 off, 12mph

The sprints kicked my butt! 12mph is 5 minutes per mile, 30 seconds at a time is about all I can handle, hehe. 34 minutes, 283 calories.

Then tonight, I ran 5 miles.

Splits
Mile 1: 9:26
Mile 2: 9:24
Mile 3: 12:14
Mile 4: 11:06
Mile 5: 10:38
.09 mi: :50

54 minutes, 621 additional calories burned for a total of 904 for the day. I ate 1700 calories.

It's tough to lose weight while training for a marathon. You need the calaries so bad for the runs that it's hard to do both at the same time. Good luck with the weight loss!
